Versatile Hong Kong director
Herman Yau continues with his experimentation in various genres, and his
latest is the athletic romance Love Lifting. Based on an inspirational
true story, the film stars Chapman To (Mr. & Mrs. Gambler) in a
refreshingly plain and sincere leading man role opposite idol
singer/actress Elanne Kwong (Basic Love), who gained 20 pounds for her
acting breakthrough playing a retired weightlifter. Their unexpected
chemistry as a couple proved crucial in lifting the emotional power of
the incredibly touching romantic drama.
